Intro to Sewing: Machine Basics — Skill Development

In this child- & teenage-friendly class you will learn basic sewing machine operations, such as:
identifying sewing machine parts & their functions
threading the machine
winding & loading the bobbin
changing the needle
fundamental sewing stitches
thread tension
This class is not required in order to use the machine — to use our sewing machines, you only need membership!
People ages 9 and up are welcome to take this class (under 18 must have permission from and paperwork signed by a parent or guardian). Responsible kids may use the sewing machine with adult supervision. Anyone 16 or older is welcome to use the machine on their own.
While our goal is to teach you how to use our Bernina Sewing Machines, we are often able to accommodate individuals wishing to bring their own sewing machine (No Sergers at this time). Please let us know via email ahead of time with the make/model of your machine, and be sure to bring any manuals, cords and bobbins with you!
