PRESENTATION: Furniture as Functional Sculpture with Maxwell Davis

This presentation will cover the various materials and techniques used in the making of one of a kind furniture. Materials such as wood, metal, glass, cement, ceramic, rubber, led lighting, upholstery, and paper. Most work shown will be a combination of materials and the techniques used in their making. In order to better understand the work, questions during the presentation will be encouraged. Limited to 10 seats, register below!

Maxwell Davis
Retired Professor, College for Creative Studies
Maxwell taught at CCS in Detroit, MI from 1973 to 2018. Throughout his tenure, he provided instruction in the areas of Ceramics, Glass, Wood, Metal, Industrial design, Concept development, Interdisciplinary, and for the last several years of his tenure he served as head of the Art Furniture area.

Maxwell holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics and Sculpture, from the University of Michigan.
