*CANCELED* Hand Papermaking and Paper Crafts Presentation

Join Irene Wei at Maker Works to talk about various Western and Eastern methods of hand papermaking and paper crafts. Irene will talk about the history of paper production as well as demonstrate how to make sheets of handmade paper.

Irene Wei balances her time as a professional papermaker and furniture maker. She received her BFA in Furniture Design at the Rhode Island School of Design with a minor in Environmental Studies. In addition to her academic studies, she pursued Traditional and Contemporary Papermaking on the side while being a full time student. At RISD, she was the point person for papermaking expertise and taught many workshops. She has studied various papermaking and paper craft methods through notable institutions such as the Ox-Bow School of Art and with master crafts people in Taiwan and Japan. Irene has also worked for organizations such as the Hand Papermaking Magazine, Carriage House Paper, Pace Paper, and Paper Connection International. Irene enjoys investigating different methods of papermaking that can be applied in sustainable and practical ways within her design practice.
