Join with other volunteers to modify toys for kids with special needs. We will be modifying common toys by adding on-off controls that can be used by kids with limited range of motion or fine motor skills.
Please bring a battery-operated toy to modify. This Amazon list will give you some idea of the kinds of toys that have been successfully modified, but feel free to bring items that are not on the list too - it may give us a good challenge! Instructions and adaptation materials will be provided. Simple soldering skills are helpful but not required. We'll also be making accessible switches and will have all the materials necessary for this activity.
Inspired by Michigan Medicine’s Tinkered Toybox and co-sponsored by May We Help-Michigan, the The Make Good Collective, and Maker Works.
