Assemblage Workshop – Hosted by AAWA

Choosing from an assortment of wooden boxes the instructor provides, create an assemblage piece using a variety of techniques including collage, painting, and construction methods. Several digital file options of shapes (geometric) and objects (tree branches, animals, etc.) will be available which can be laser cut with the assistance of Maker Works staff members.

Instructor will also provide paper, fabric, acrylic and latex paint, and brushes, but students should bring favorite paint brushes (if desired) as well as any studio ephemera or objects/photos they might want to include. Finished 3D piece can either hang on a wall or be free-standing.

For reference on assemblage or artwork using boxes, check out Louise Nevelson, Betye Saar, and Joseph Cornell.
